For the mamas with the little girls with unruly hair… this one is for you. ♥
Every morning after breakfast, my daughter Payton and I run up the stairs and into her bathroom to get her hair brushed and styled q u i c k l y before the school bus comes. Pressed for time, she brushes her teeth, and I get to brush her hair. Every morning was the same, she complained about my brushing, a lot. I try to be gentle. We have the best hair brushes. We trim her hair regularly. We use a deep conditioner. We braid her hair before bed. We do all of the things. But, there was no shortage of complaints in those moments.
I created this super simple recipe for them. And now have a new favorite for myself! Last year she came home from visiting her family in New York with a bottle of detangling spray, the same kind I used as a little girl. Same neon plastic bottle, same octopus on front, same familiar green apple scent. Once she ran out, I knew I had to make some. A simple detangling spray that skips plastic, artificial scent and ingredients.
All you need for this recipe is a couple of apples, some fractionated coconut oil, (optional) jojoba oil, and a little bit of time to wait for the infusion. The combination smells unbelievble, the ingredients are ultra-nourishing, and it alleviated those moments where I felt bad about brushing out her knots. You simply spray this mixture at the ends of hair strands, and brush with ease.
why fractionated coconut oil?
Fractionated coconut oil will not solidify in cooler temperatures, so I use it in any liquid beauty products I make. Coconut oil also lubricates the hair strands, making it easier to comb and while increasing shine.
why jojoba oil?
Jojoba oil is rich in in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair, and moisturizes follicles, helping hair become more managable.
I hope you give it a try, skip the plastic, & keep it glassy in your home. ♥
