Naturally pink peach basil lemonade

Naturally pink peach basil lemonade is a refreshing and herbaceous lemonade that's naturally got a gorgeous hue and sweetened with honey.

Pink lemonade is one of those things you lust over as a child, and then grow up and realize you're not really sure what it is. What flavor is it supposed to be? Why is it pink? Growing up in the 90's... all you really knew was that it was probably not good for you and could be reformed in a better, modern way.

So, what is pink lemonade?

Pink lemonade is a pink colored beverage made from lemon juice, sugar, water, and natural or artificial pink dying agent to give it it’s hue.

Naturally pink lemonade comes from using natural food ingredients, like cranberry juice, strawberries, raspberries, beet root powder, or in this case - peaches. Letting your peaches sit with the skin on overnight in a pitcher while it cools will cause it to turn this beautiful peachy pink color.

There is something so fun and beautiful about naturally pink food. If you love it like I do, try my blood orange creamsicles!

What peaches should I use for peach lemonade?

I used freestone peaches with yellow flesh, and I infused them with their skin on which gave our lemonade a beautiful natural pink hue. You can use any type of peach you desire!

You do need to let them sit and infuse, otherwise the lemonade won't take on the beautiful natural pink hue. Like so many of my recipes, a little patience goes a long way.

You can also try my dandelion lemonade if you're loving unique lemonade flavors!

Can I use another herb other than basil?

If you don't love basil the way I do, simply swap it for another herb like thyme or mint, or leave out altogether. Peach lemonade is heavenly all on its own! And if you DO love basil, don't forget to try my: grilled peach, prosciutto and burrata salad or my basil citrus ice cream

How can I naturally sweeten this lemonade?

If you go through the trouble of infusing your lemonade overnight for it's beautiful natural pink color, you might as well sweeten it naturally to. I absolutely love flower infused honey or herb infused honey.

How to serve:

Serve with a floral ice cube, lemon wedge and candied herbs.
