You guys, life doesn’t get much better than this…
- IT’S DECEMBER! Yaaaas! I have my out of this world eggnog (with a little bourbon 😉 and I’m recipe testing and tasting some keto Ferrero rocher donuts for tomorrow’s post – and my taste buds are in heaven.
- Every day for the next twenty days I plan to share an amazing new recipe with you. After that, we head to Austria for a few weeks off 🙂
what is eggnog?
Eggnog is a super rich and creamy dairy based drink, made with whipped egg whites (hence it’s name, and frothy texture), sugar, cream and spices. This makes it a very keto adaptable beverage, and if you didn’t tell anyone it was keto friendly – they would have no idea.
what’s special about my recipe?
Heavy cream – cream was used instead of milk in this recipe, to keep is low carb and extra thick.
Egg yolks – 6 Egg yolks were used in this recipe, but the preparation of this drink is done so that they are not consumed raw.
Gingerbread spice – I recommend gingerbread spice because it is the perfect blend of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, and comes in handy for literally every holiday recipe out there! If you don’t want to use gingerbread spice, a dash of nutmeg is fine instead.
Adding bourbon, or any liquor of choice is completely optional. Just double check that it’s carb free!
How quickly should I drink it?
Eggnog should be consumed one – two days after it’s made. I also plan to make an amazing keto cake with some eggnog tomorrow night. I look forward to sharing that recipe with you!
Happiest December friends! I hope this recipe helps you enjoy it even more. xo Sarah
