Candy Cane Sugar Scrub
Tis the season to be jolly—and to indulge in a little peppermint pampering! Today, we're whipping up a delightful DIY candy cane sugar scrub - a whimsical diy treat for your skin, that smells and feels like a candy cane dream.
Yield: 1 cup of scrub to be divided into containers of choice
Equipment
- 1 mixing bowl large
- 1 wooden spoon for mixing
- 1 Measuring cup
Materials
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup coconut oil cup coconut oil melted
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
Optional
- 5 drops vanilla extract alcohol in natural vanilla extract helps extend the shelf life of this extract, so we recommend it!

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sugar and coconut oil. Mix well until the sugar is moistened.Add the peppermint essential oil and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.If you'd like, add a few drops of crushed peppermints or candy canes to achieve a festive flair.

How To Store Your Sugar Scrub
Homemade sugar scrubs are a wonderful all-natural treat for the skin! But, this means they aren't filled with preservatives and things that keep them shelf-stable for months. The vanilla extract in the scrub acts as a preservative but can be drying. That is why it's optional. Peppermint essential oil is also anti-bacterial, but homemade sugar scrubs can go bad, so here is how to make them last as long as possible!- Please make sure to store the scrub in an airtight container, like a jar with a lid.
- Use a little spoon when using the product. Don't stick wet hands into a container. Getting the sugar scrub wet will decrease its shelf-life.
- You can store it at room temperature, but storing it in the refrigerator will extend its shelf life. Cold peppermint sugar scrub is actually THE BEST!
- Keep the lid on and sealed whenever you are not actually using it.
- If it gets hard, it is still okay! Add a few more drops of coconut oil to soften it back up.
- Discard if it has any signs of mold immediately.
