Rose water matcha tea recipe

Bitter matcha expresses it's flavors so beautifully when served with rose water. This rose water and matcha tea recipe is the perfect cure for meloncholy and winter blues on those fragile February days.

I call this cup of tea my external mediator. It's a beautiful pick me up when my heart is feeling heavy. And Sometimes, I just want something different than my mid afternoon cup of coffee.

I can tell based on my pleading for my husband to pick me up some chocolate and unusual fatigue that hormones are at least somewhat to blame for these February woes. Yesterday morning I wasn't feeling like my blissful self and turned to one of the best tools in our homes, tea.

Something so simple like a hot cup of tea, a beautiful melody, and of course - some pink roses. Instant better headspace. I am listening to classical music and finding comfort in typing this simple, yet  worthy recipe with you. In hopes if you need a lighter spirit, you can make a cup and enjoy with me from afar.

my muse:

For Christmas I asked my husband for a matcha whisk and some quality matcha. I have been enjoying a cup each day when I just need a moment to myself. I also received rose, geranium and orange blossom waters. While making my cup of matcha, I saw my jar of pink rose buds. I thought about how beautifully the matcha green + pink would look together, and naturally wanted to photograph them. I wasn't expecting to love the combination so much. I'm surprised I didn't think of it sooner, considering I already have a recipe for Iced rose + mint green tea.

the ingredients

To make this Rose water matcha recipe, I simply needed quality matcha green tea powder, rose water, regular filtered water, and I added some cream to make it light and sweet. Ever since I was a little girl, I have fond memories of my grandma serving me black tea with cream and sugar after school. Now, every time I add it to any cup of tea, it brings me back.

Matcha:

We all know matcha is a superfood drink loaded with antioxidants. But, did you know matcha tea can directly improve our cognitive health as well? A daily matcha ritual is linked with a heightened sense of well-being.

Rose water:

Rose water is a liquid made from water and rose petals. It is used as a perfume due to its sweet scent, but it has medicinal and culinary values, as well. Rose water contains numerous antioxidants and recent research shows rose can even relax the central nervous system. I have a homemade rose water recipe here.
